Get in Touch
We like hearing from readers, whether you are planning a first night under canvas or have been hostel-hopping for years. The quickest way to reach us is by email at mail@camp-hostel.com. The form on this page does the same job: it opens your own email program with your message ready to send, and nothing is stored on this website.
Messages we especially welcome
- Corrections. A rule has changed, a detail is out of date or a step does not work as described.
- Questions. Something about camping, hiking, hostels or budget travel that our guides have not answered yet.
- Tips from the trail. A packing trick, a rainy-day game or a camp meal that deserves a wider audience.
- Topic ideas. Destinations, films, games or food you would like us to cover.
What we cannot help with
We are a small reading magazine, not a booking or guiding service. We cannot reserve beds or pitches, sell equipment, give personal safety assessments for a specific route, or answer urgent questions while you are outdoors. If you are in trouble outside, contact local emergency services straight away. For current fire restrictions, trail closures or permits, the park, campground or land manager is the right place to ask.
What happens after you write
One of us reads each message personally, usually within a few days of it landing. We try to reply within a week, though busy travel seasons can slow us down. Corrections are looked at first, and if one leads to a change in an article, the page is updated so every reader benefits.
We do not add your address to any mailing list, and we do not pass messages on to anyone else. How we handle emails is set out in our Privacy Notice.
A note on attachments
Photos of a broken trail sign or a confusing campsite notice can be genuinely helpful when you report a change. Please leave out pictures of other people, and never send passport scans, booking references or payment details; we have no use for them and would rather not hold them.
Before you send
If your question is about getting started outdoors, you may find the answer already waiting in What to Pack for Camping or our other guides. And if you would like to know who you are writing to, have a look at the About page.
Makes replying easier
Worth adding to your message
- A link to the page your message is about
- Where you saw a newer rule or detail, for corrections
- The season and kind of trip you are planning, for questions
- A first name or nickname, if you would like one used
From the team
Your notes make the guides better
Some of our most useful changes came from readers who had just come back from a trip and spotted what we had missed.
We cannot answer emergencies or book anything, but we read every message and reply as soon as the season allows.
